In Person Readings, Interpretation Questions, and Cold Readings

Yesterday I did my first in person reading in a long while. Although tired after the two and a half hours, I was so happy to go and read face-to-face! Although not more accurate, it does allow the Querant (the person asking the question) to ask for specific details right away. It also allows me to ask questions about their lives in order for me to better interpret the Cards. .

And Yes! I am taking more appointments for in-person readings!

Cold Readings Explained, and Why The Cold Readings Are Bad!

Now, I'm very much against Cold readings. Cold readings is when a Tarot Reader or general Psychic looks constantly at the Querant for hints in the person's facial expressions. For example, if they look at the person and ask if they've been married before, look for a ring, and look for any facial expressions, like a scowl which would indicate a bad previous marriage.. or a warm smile which would indicate a happy marriage. This is not good whatsoever! A good sensitive will only ask you Interpretation Questions (see next paragraph) and facial expressions should be ignored as it can ruin any good signal from spirits, intuitive powers, or messages from another source. It's like putting the TV on mute and speaking the lines for the characters using facial expressions and mouth positions.. you might get the gist of it, but you'll miss most of the finer details. A psychic may do this without knowing they're doing it, and it really muddles them up. Even the best of readers can do this, and I know when I inadvertently do it, I'll backtrack and "erase" that part of the reading.. as I know I'm probably missing out on some pretty great details.

Interpretation/Interpretive Questions and Why Sometimes Necessary

Sometimes, like my session last night, the messages I get from the deceased and other sources are weird. I can't understand them. Such as: "the husband is distant, yet close. The husband is near, but detached. The Husband loves, yet he is torn apart from the wife." this is a paraphrase from a spirit last night - so I had to ask: "I see you're separated." And the lovely Querant says, "no." Then I ask an interpretive question, "why is it that I see you're married but separated at the same time?" And she relates to me that her husband and her sleep in separate rooms. So, they are married, but separated in bed - and to the Tarot and some deceased, the bed is very important in the marriage. The husband was sad due to the separation, but it was necessary due to different sleep schedules.
Another time, about two years ago, I had a similar example of why Interpretive questions are important. A woman had come to me with a normal question: "should I stay with my husband?" All seemed normal, she was a happy woman and her eyes filled with life. I spread out the Cards and a spirit immediately showed me some very powerful and sad images. I saw blood, violence, and felt afraid and hollow. I felt as if I was backed into a corner, literally and figuratively. I felt sick to my stomach and a pain lower in my body. I didn't understand. I wondered if the spirit was just haunting her. No words were communicated, only those feelings and images. I asked some interpretive questions, "have you been in a violent situation lately? Have you been hurt?" And to this she held silent for a few minutes and I described what I saw from the wordless spirit. Her face slowly melted into a very touching sad face that almost pierced my ability to listen to that deceased spirit. I put it together and said, "no, you shouldn't stay with your husband if he's hurting you physically, emotionally, and mentally." She nodded through her tears, paid me, and then left. Not too long ago she emailed me that she's living in a gated community and finally feels safe. And she's going through therapy to never let this abuse happen again. Without interpretive questions, the reading can miss out on some very important conclusions.

But as always, sometimes interpretive questions are there for one reason - the reading is foggy, and it's hard for me to see very much in that particular area. Then I'll ask you to try another topic, or try to come back to this question at the end of the session.
